Madison Nelson is an 11th grader at Lake City High School, where she stands out as a top scholar and a dedicated member of many clubs and extracurricular activities. She excels in basketball, chamber choir, pottery, and serves as President of the National Honor Society. Madison also helps lead the Sources division, a suicide prevention group at Lake City, and has won State with FCCLA—all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. She is an amazing student, a great friend, and a hard worker who inspires those around her.

This summer, Madison has the incredible opportunity to represent the Coeur d’Alene school district at the FCCLA National competition in Washington DC. The funds raised will help cover her travel and participation costs, as well as support the FCCLA program. Madison’s journey to Nationals is especially meaningful because of her project, HandMade Hope, which she created after her mother was diagnosed with cancer for the second time in October 2025. After her mother’s battle with colon cancer, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and continues to fight bravely. Inspired by her mother’s strength, Madison decided to make a difference in her community by making quilts for kids with cancer. She led a team in her leadership class to design, create, and donate these quilts to Sacred Heart children’s cancer clinic, winning at both district and state levels.

We hope to share Madison’s story not only to support her journey, but also to bring awareness to the cause of helping families facing cancer. Our dream is to expand HandMade Hope so more families can feel supported during difficult times. Your support will help Madison compete at Nationals and allow this program to grow, spreading compassion and care throughout our community. Thank you for considering a donation to help Madison and families in need.
