Support Madison's Fight against Leukemia
Donation protected
Dear Curtis Family Friends and WKU Hilltopper Community,
Anissa Winstead Curtis recently shared that her daughter, Madison ("Madi"), was diagnosed with leukemia in December 2024, two months after seeking medical care to learn why she was not feeling quite like herself.
Gas. Meals. Express lane tolls. Medical expenses -known and unknown. In addition to your prayers, these are areas where we can best support Melvin, Anissa, and Madi on their journey.
Would you make a gift today and come back to share your support and give them moments of rest and relief?
We'll post updates as they are shared.
Until then, here's more about their start:
“We spent Christmas and New Years in the hospital prepping for the fight! She got her regular chest port, and due to her back hardware, she had to get a 2nd port (called an Ommaya reservoir) in her head.
"But, as many of you know, Madison is a fighter! She has developmental delays and is considered non-verbal, although her face says a lot and what it doesn’t, she says with her AAC device. Now, she’s facing an even greater challenge, and of course we are right there with her!
"We are overwhelmed but determined to remain hopeful as we work with her doctors to get her the best treatments possible. The road ahead will be long and hard, but with your love, prayers, and support, we know Madison will continue to show us her incredible strength.
Our chemo journey has begun and our focus is making sure that she is comfortable and not in pain. So far her biggest side effect has been the steroid! She has the LARGEST appetite, LOTS of attitude (more than normal), tremors and a very swollen face.
Please keep Madison (and us) in your thoughts and prayers as we begin this journey and we will share updates along the way."
