Support Madison McCullough's Recovery After Spine Surgery

Donation protected
This Go Fund Me is to support our sister, Madison, with her medical bills after she suffered a life-altering accident this past summer in which she received multiple injuries, the worst being that she broke her spine. February has come with more set backs as she was in a car accident that resulted in her car being totaled and was also fired from her job due to her medical limitations.

Madison is 23 years old and recently graduated from the University of Minnesota. Those who know her know she has been active her whole life. She loves rock climbing, playing soccer, and working in construction. Madison’s world got turned upside down this past June when she fell 40 feet out of a tree. Doctors stated it is likely she only survived because of the branches that broke her fall along the way. Unfortunately, she fractured multiple ribs, fractured her sternum, lacerated her liver, punctured a lung, and broke her spine. She was quickly and safely transported to the Mayo Clinic by ambulance and the next day received an emergency spinal fusion surgery during which she had 10 titanium rods put into her spine. We are so incredibly lucky that her life was spared and she wasn’t paralyzed, as well as eternally grateful to the doctors who saved her spine and her life that day.

Here’s a few words from Madison about her experience:
“I am so grateful to have been surrounded by friends and family ever since the accident. However, the healing process has been a lot longer and more difficult physically and mentally than I could have ever expected. I’ve come to realize I have a long way to go yet before I can start getting back to living life independently. I’ve attempted working a few times, but have been unable to work a job since the accident due to pain and physical restrictions. I have found medical bills, student loans, therapy, and the general cost of living to be incredibly difficult to keep up with. I thought this was something I could tackle on my own, but if there’s anything I’ve learned during this healing process is that its okay to ask for help and to ask for support from my community. Any kind of financial help that you can afford to donate would make a world of a difference for me. If you’re not in a position to donate I still would like to thank you for taking the time to read my story. I know this near death experience was a terrifying wake up call for myself and those close to me. So if anything, let my story remind you that life is short and a gift. Tell the people you love that you love them and to be grateful for everything you have while you have it!”

Thank you for taking the time to read about Madison’s journey. Your donation will go towards supporting Madison's medical bills, physical therapy bills, groceries, and rent as she continues to heal and get back to living independently. She has a long road of recovery ahead, but nothing can deter her, as she is one of the strongest women we know.
