My name is Leah Forcey and I am raising funds for my friend and coworker Madi Strong. She could use some help paying her medical bills right now. She is a courageous Adoption Counselor at the nonprofit rescue organization One of a Kind Pet Rescue in Akron, Ohio, helping homeless cats and dogs find loving homes.

Madi has a dog of her own that recently needed surgery. Then one day the cat in her home started attacking her dog. Perhaps the protective cone (aka the “cone of shame” aka Elizabethan collar) scared the cat and caused it to attack. She’s not sure. Madi naturally put herself between the cat and her dog to try to protect her dog. In the process, Madi was bitten at least twice by the cat and got many scratches as well. A quick Google search about cat bites will tell you that they can lead to a quickly spreading dangerous infection and that they often call for a visit to the emergency room. Her wounds quickly showed that she needed medical attention. She wanted to treat her wounds at home, because she felt she couldn’t afford a doctor visit. With encouragement from myself and others she, decided to go to Urgent Care. Urgent Care gave her antibiotics , but after 2 days her wounds were getting worse and showing more signs of infection. She had to go to the emergency room for help. There they determined the correct antibiotics she needed to fight off the infection. She also had to get a tdap shot.
