Hi! My name is Madi Brubaker and I am currently working on my Girl Scout Gold Award. Before entering high school, I found out that I’m hearing impaired and lost 30% of my hearing in both ears. Entering high school with hearing aids was challenging and I definitely heard an amount of “jokes” and ridicule. For my Gold Award project, I decided to create a children’s book to teach kids about how different isn’t a bad thing and about the importance of kindness to everyone even if they may have seen or unseen disabilities. After my book got published I went of a “book tour” to K-3rd Grade and Sunday School Classrooms in my community to share my story. My troop was unable to afford the total amount that GraphCom charged for my printing and binding of my book. I’m short about $180. So with your help I could love to be able to leave my troop not in debt. I have gotten many questions on if I would be willing to sell my books to families who would like to read it to their own kids. Right now I only have 20 copies but if I go above the $180 goal then I would be more than willing to look into printing more copies. Please consider helping my troop and myself out by donating to my Gold Award project. Thank You!
