Support Madhavi’s Flower Farm
Donation protected
Hi my name is Madhavi Scharko and I’m excited to take over as farmer of Crack in the Sidewalk! I’m a 4th generation grower with years of experience working on my family farm, and am no stranger to Crack in the Sidewalk, having worked prior seasons for the flower program. Although I’m not new to farming, I’m new to taking the lead on production.
I moved from Arizona back to Atlanta, my hometown, to start this new chapter of life. Even with the support and my history with farming there are upfront costs of post-harvest supplies, seeds/bulbs, etc. and the hurdles of jumping into this challenge late in the growing season. While I’m currently able to use Chris and Isia’s supplies, it is urgent for me to get bulbs, seeds, a truck, and farm supplies, as they will be leaving soon. My vision for the future of Crack in the Sidewalk, in addition to continuing to produce flowers, is to host workshops, make arrangements for events, and pay multiple employees.
While I am feeling overwhelmed by the current upfront costs, I am set on having a strong start next spring. In order to do that, I am asking for help to pay for these initial seeds and supplies. With your help, I will be able to make it through this season to be able to have a strong start next season. In the meantime, you can come support me at the Crack in the Sidewalk booth at the Grant Park farmers market. While I don’t have much now, every penny helps towards next season!
