My name is Madelyn Slattery, and I am a recent Drama Theatre Studies and Creative Writing Graduate from Elon University. I have the incredible opportunity to put on my senior thesis project, Mom Play, with the RJ Theatre Company.

Mom Play is a tense, intimate one-act drama that captures a strained reunion between a mother and daughter. As their conversation unfolds, layers of family dysfunction, denial, and longing are revealed. Through biting humor and uneasy silences, Mom Play explores the complicated bond between parent and child, the truths we avoid to protect ourselves, and how far the definition of family can be stretched before it snaps completely.
