My name is Maddy, and I am currently trying to raise funds for my grandma to move from California to Kansas, where my mom and I live.

The last year and a half, life has thrown some tough losses at her. In February of 2024, she lost her husband, Randy, to a tragic and unexpected death. She has been suffering from a bone-deteriorating disease and has struggled with hand movement for the last few years. Recently, the doctors have found stage four B uterine cancer, which has spread all the way up into the chest. These are going to be the last few years of my grandma's life. She is not a candidate for chemotherapy due to the spread and stage of the cancer, and because her first round of chemo caused her to get a sepsis infection. In other words, chemotherapy started to shut down her body and kill her blood cells, which would have killed her. She was just discharged from the specialty hospital and placed into an acute care facility, and can hopefully stay there until we can get there to move her.

Due to the lack of at-home support she cannot receive in California, her best option is to move her to be taken care of by her daughter (my mother) and me. Our transportation options right now consist of trying to afford a U-Haul to and from California, one personal vehicle, and hopefully being able to pull her car back with the U-Haul. Otherwise, we are looking to take a personal vehicle there and back, as well as driving hers back.

We are asking for donations to help with the transportation to and from California and the other necessities during the drive.

The amount listed is specifically the goal for getting her and her belongings here, we would love to raise more if possible to help with the finances needed for housing.
