My friend Maddy is going on hospice after a fight with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. We met while my husband was battling the same disease. Maddy is 23 years old and had the FLT3 mutation. While there have been certainly medical advances in the past few years this mutation is resistant to chemo. The goal was to get to a stem cell transplant. Her blasts have increased to 74% now and there is nothing left that can be done.
