Hi everyone, my name is Andrea and I’m making this fundraiser to help Maddy and her family! I’ve been friends with Maddy’s mom, Liz, for many years now. Maddy has Cystic Fibrosis, a disorder that affects the lungs and other organs. Maddy's mutations are G542x and c.1210-2A>c. Only 9% of people in the world that have Cystic Fibrosis are without a lifesaving cure; unfortunately, Maddy is in that 9% of people.

Maddy's parents, Liz and Ricardo, have been desperately seeking a way to save her. Liz, who is battling her own share of severe health issues, works tirelessly to make ends meet. Rent, bills, and medical expenses all add up, and it's been hard for them to keep up. Maddy has to go to the CF clinic frequently and is constantly in and out of the hospital. She also requires a significant amount of care at home, including receiving treatment through her port (which is an implanted device that attaches to a vein in the chest).

It is also a priority for them to allow Maddy to participate in the extra activities that she enjoys. These activities include dance, theatre and singing (triple threat). This essential in keeping Maddy active and helping her lungs be as healthy as possible. Not only do these activities improve her physical health, they also provide a sense of normalcy and friendship for Maddy.. something that is so very important for a child living with such a severe illness.

Maddy is currently ill and is admitted into the hospital. Although we cannot take away Maddy's health challenges, we can help by eliminating the financial burden and giving this family one less thing to worry about.
