Hi, my name is Federica and I’m here on behalf of Mad Cucumber, a vegan lounge founded in 2013 in Bournemouth.

In 2021 I started working in the café as a waitress and in 2023 I took over the business from the original owners in order to carry on Mad Cucumber legacy.

I recently sat down with my staff and we have long thought about this.

We know that there are plenty of causes out there that deserve more attention than what we are about to share. Moreover it wasn’t an easy decision at all to open up like this.

The past few months have been very tough: some days the café was buzzing, most days it was empty. To top this up, so many things kept on breaking irreparably. Things broke, but the amazing staff didn’t. We showed up every single day, ready to work hard, non-stop, always with a smile on & a positive attitude.

You, our customers, are our fuel, our motivation. We are Mad Cucumber, a vegan café run by vegan girls, who believe in what they do for the animals, for the planet, for the future. We are more than enough, but this unfortunately is not enough anymore. Small businesses will be knackered even more by the government. We need your help. We have decided to set up a fundraise in order to be able to provide our staff with essential equipment to run Mad Cucumber the best way possible for you. We want Mad Cucumber to survive and thrive, to be the safe place it’s always been for us vegans. Even the smallest help from you would be a massive one for us.
