Support Macy's Fight Against Multiple Sclerosis

Donation protected
In January 2023, my sister suddenly lost sight in one eye. A brain scan confirmed our worst fears—she had developed lesions on her brain and spine. At just 19, Macy was diagnosed with Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis, a chronic disease that attacks the protective myelin of nerves, disrupting the connection between her brain and body. Since then, the disease has progressed rapidly, making everyday tasks that once felt simple—walking, standing in warm weather, even getting out of bed—a constant struggle due to nerve pain, balance issues, and extreme fatigue. Over the past two years, no treatment has been able to stop her symptom progression. Now, with more than 20 lesions on her brain and spine, Macy has gone from working full-time to barely being able to care for herself. More than anything, she wants to regain her independence. She is looking forward to playing piano, singing in church, and spending as much time as possible with her baby niece.

After exhausting other options, Macy has decided to pursue a stem cell transplant combined with chemotherapy (HSCT) in hopes of halting the disease. This treatment involves harvesting her own stem cells, eliminating her immune system with chemotherapy, and then rebuilding it with the goal of stopping MS in its tracks. The process is both physically and mentally grueling, requiring at least 28 days of inpatient treatment—including time in complete isolation to prevent infection—followed by months of recovery. Doctors anticipate Macy will need to remain in isolation for at least three months and continue rebuilding her immune system for up to a year.

Unfortunately, the transplant is not covered by insurance, and while a clinical trial is underway, Macy does not have years to wait for approval. Our family is committed to covering the cost of treatment, but we are seeking support to help Macy through her recovery. She will be unable to work for many months, and her mother will need time off to act as her caregiver in those critical first few months. Donations will go toward her living expenses, doctor’s visits, lab work, and post-treatment medications. More than anything, we want Macy to focus on healing rather than worrying about finances.

Any contribution, no matter the size, will help give Macy the best chance at reclaiming her life. Your support, whether through donations, prayers, or simply sharing this fundraiser, means the world to us. Thank you for standing with us in this fight.
