Mac, my friend’s baby, has already shown unimaginable strength in his short life. Diagnosed with chronic kidney failure, Mac will likely need a kidney transplant sooner rather than later. After spending nearly two and a half months in the NICU, he finally came home, a moment his family had been waiting for. But that joy was heartbreakingly short. After just nine days at home, Mac had to be admitted again, this time to begin dialysis.

In his few short months of life, he has already endured multiple surgeries, including the placement of a PD catheter, a vesicostomy, and a G-tube. He is currently at Akron Children’s Hospital, where his parents are learning how to perform dialysis themselves. Facing the overwhelming task of becoming their baby’s lifeline so they can bring him home again. Through it all, Mac continues to fight with a strength far beyond his size, surrounded by love, hope, and the unwavering devotion of his family.

The financial and emotional strain on Mac’s family is immense. The money raised through this fundraiser will go directly toward medical bills and the family’s current needs, helping to ease some of the burdens they face every day.
