Hello! My name is Marco Tulio Hurtarte, I am 66 years old, and I want to share my story to ask for your help. In October 2024, thanks to a friend who asked me for support with her medical appointments, my family and I noticed that my eyes had a unnatural yellowish color. Concerned, on November 4, 2024, I went to the doctor, who ordered several tests, including an ultrasound, which revealed findings in my gallbladder.

On November 18, 2024, after an endoscopy and a cholangiopancreatography, I was diagnosed with malignant stenosis of the bile duct (bile duct cancer, Bismuth Corlette II). That same day, I was prepared for surgery to remove my gallbladder, but after the operation, the doctors told me I had no more than three months to live due to the severity of the situation. However, days went by and I saw no improvement; fifteen days later, they confirmed they could not remove the tumor and referred me to an oncologist.

Since then, I have been undergoing treatment, with constant exams and medical appointments. The expenses for medications, hospitalizations, and tests have been very high, and in January and February, we went to Roosevelt National Hospital, where we were informed that the tumor is not operable because it is wrapped many blood vessels, which could cause severe bleeding if an attempt was made to operate. Despite everything, thanks to a doctor I consider an angel, I have been fighting for six months, even though the initial doctors gave me no more than three months of hope.

My health remains delicate, and due to my weakened immune system, I have been hospitalized several times for infections. Since I have always worked for myself, I do not have social security or hospital benefits, and the expenses continue to grow. That is why I sincerely ask for your support to help cover these medical costs that are greatly affecting me and my family.

En octubre de 2024, gracias a una amiga que me pidió apoyo para sus consultas médicas, mi familia y yo notamos que mis ojos tenían un color amarillento poco natural. Preocupados, el 4 de noviembre de 2024 fui al médico, quien me indicó realizar varios exámenes, incluyendo un ultrasonido, que revelaron hallazgos en la vesícula biliar.

El 18 de noviembre de 2024, tras una endoscopia y una colangiopancreatografía, me diagnosticaron una estenosis maligna de la vía biliar (cáncer en los conductos biliares, Bismuth Corlette II). Ese mismo día, me prepararon para una cirugía para extraer la vesícula, pero después de la operación, los médicos me dijeron que no me daban más de tres meses de vida debido a la gravedad de la situación. Sin embargo, pasaron los días y no vi mejoría; quince días después, confirmaron que no pudieron quitar el tumor y me derivaron a un oncólogo.

Desde entonces, he estado en tratamiento, realizando exámenes y citas médicas constantes. Los gastos en medicamentos, hospitalizaciones y exámenes han sido muy altos, y en enero y febrero acudimos al hospital nacional Roosevelt, donde nos informaron que el tumor no es operable porque está rodeado de muchos vasos sanguíneos, lo que podría provocarme una hemorragia si intentaran operarme. A pesar de todo, gracias a un médico que considero un ángel, llevo seis meses luchando, cuando los primeros médicos no me daban más de tres meses de esperanza.

Mi salud sigue siendo delicada, y debido a mi sistema inmunológico debilitado, he sido hospitalizado en varias ocasiones por infecciones. Como siempre he trabajado por mi cuenta, no tengo seguro social ni beneficios hospitalarios, y los gastos continúan creciendo. Por eso, hoy les pido de corazón su apoyo para cubrir estos gastos médicos que tanto nos afectan a mí y a mi familia.
