Support Mac & Rena: A Car for Baby Rowan's Safe Arrival

Hi everyone,

This is one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to write.

Before we dive into the hard part, we want to share a little bit about who we are.

We’re Mac and Rena — together affectionately known as “the Macarena.” We’re expecting our first child, Rowan-Sage, whose due date is August 24th — so our little boy could be here any day now! Though his arrival was unexpected, preparing for him has been one of the most joyful experiences of our lives.

When we’re not busy preparing for parenthood, we love live music, camping, fishing, and cozy movie nights. Professionally, Mac has spent the last 10 years as a chef, and Rena is a dedicated bartender who loves connecting with her community. Together, we’ve also been working on launching a local nonprofit that provides sack lunches directly to those in need — giving back and feeding people is something we deeply care about.

But now, we’re the ones who need help.

During our baby shower, a friend who was supposed to be watching our house — not driving our car — made a negligent decision that changed everything. They took our only vehicle and totaled it.

This wasn’t a simple accident. It was a devastating act of negligence, and now we’re left to pick up the pieces.

The insurance payout only covered the remaining loan on the car, leaving us with absolutely nothing to replace it. With a baby due next month, there is no extra money to work with — no room in our budget to just go out and buy another vehicle.

Our car wasn’t just transportation. It was our lifeline. We depend on it for work — especially Instacart — which makes up over a third of our household income. Without it, that income is gone. And without that income, we are facing the very real possibility of losing our home.

On top of that, we need reliable transportation for Rena’s prenatal care, emergency trips to the hospital when she goes into labor, and all the essentials of bringing a newborn into the world safely.

It’s heartbreaking and humbling for us to be in this position, but we are out of options.

We are asking for $2,000 to put toward a down payment on a safe, reliable vehicle so that we can:

Get back to work and restore our income.

Ensure Rena can safely get to her medical appointments and deliver our baby without fear of being stranded.

Stabilize our family as we prepare for this next chapter of our lives.
