Hello everyone, thanks for taking time out of your busy schedules to visit this fundraising.
My name is Cornelius and I am fundraising for my wife Mabel, popularly known as Yaasika
Mabel started having some weaknesses on her right side of the body with severe headaches and seizures around 2020-2021. She was seen by a neurologist who run several tests and examinations including, MRIs and CT scans. Neurologist initially thought it was multiple sclerosis(MS), but confirmatory tests ruled out MS. Neurologist referred Mabel to Mayo clinic to have biopsy done but due to certain circumstances and other life changes, she couldn't go to Mayo for the Biopsy. Neurologist started Mabel on medication for the seizures and has been following up every year for MRIs". Mabel was doing well with seizure symptoms well managed, with on and off headaches which were not alarming until last Saturday, May 4th, 2024 when she suffered a severe headache that ended her in the emergency room. She was treated with a migraine cocktail medication and was discharged home because they thought it was migraine. On Sunday, May 5th, 2024, her headaches came back very severely with weakness on her right side, which she ended back at the ER. MRI was performed and they noticed a stroke like image on her brain. Mabel was admitted to the stroke unit for treatment and further evaluations. On May 7th, 2024, an angiogram was performed and it confirmed the major vessels supplying blood to the right side of her brain was completely blocked and was diagnosed with what they called "MOYAMOYA DISEASE", a rare condition that causes seizures and multiple strokes. An emergency surgery called craniotomy extracranial to intracranial bypass was performed on May 8th 2024 to redirect blood flow to the brain to prevent future strokes. Surgery went successfully and Mabel is currently admitted to the ICU unit here at Sanford for recovery.
Prior to all these, Mabel went through a difficult child-birth with over 2 months bedrest and NICU stay. Her remaining hospital bills are over $31,000 and more will be coming through her therapies until full recovery. Please help me raise some funds to support her. God bless you all.
