Lyssa Smith joined the Marana High School community as the athletic clerk in January 2025, and from her very first day, she has been a bright light on our campus. Anyone who has spent even a moment with Lyssa knows her warmth, positivity, and kindness. She brings that same love and joy into motherhood. Her devotion to her 2-year-old son, Jasper, is evident in every story she shares and every smile that crosses her face when she talks about him.
On the night of Friday, November 21st, after working the final Marana High School football game of the season, Lyssa was driving home when she was struck by another vehicle. She sustained severe injuries, including brain bleeds, a broken arm, and lacerations to her liver and kidneys. She is currently in the ICU, and her healing journey is expected to be long and challenging.
As Lyssa faces an extended hospitalization and recovery, we are coming together to support her and her family with the financial burdens ahead, from medical bills to household expenses, as well as the care of her son, Jasper.
If you are able, please consider donating. Any amount, big or small, will make a meaningful difference for Lyssa and her loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. Your support, messages of encouragement, and shares of this page are very appreciated.
Hi All
I am Penny Pickell and I work with Lyssa at Marana High School. I created this GoFundMe to help Lyssa with any medical bills and getting back on her feet when she is better. Thank you all for being so generous in helping Lyssa. She is so strong and continues to achieve every task they are giving her to recover.
