Support Ly's Students: Team Uniforms & Equipment

Hello!

My name is Ly, and I am a high school history teacher at a public school in lower Manhattan.

For the last three years, I have been coaching my high school’s co-ed soccer team. As a public school in the city, it’s rare that our school buildings have full gymnasiums and fields for students to partake in sports. As a team, we travel to Brooklyn to play our games, and students take the initiative to coordinate practices.

As a school, we have limited disposable money to be able to cover all expenses. Every year, I expense a majority of my school supplies and decorations to make my classroom feel and look like a place that is conducive to learning. However, as the years go by, these expenses add up!

Sports, while they are not widely emphasized in many New York City public schools, are places for students to build community. This year, I am fundraising to supply students with team uniform shirts to include their names and numbers, as well as to replenish team equipment. I am excited to be able to offer the opportunity for our student athletes to be able to leave high school with a piece of their team that is theirs alone.

In the case that our goal is met, any additional funds will be used for classroom supplies. Thank you for your consideration and generous contribution!
