My little sister Lynny is facing every mother’s worst nightmare: cancer. Three weeks ago Lynny underwent an emergency hysterectomy to stop internal bleeding that nearly cost her life, only to discover a rare form of cancer called low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma (LG-ESS) was in her uterus undetected by her doctors.
A CT-scan sadly revealed the cancer had already spread throughout her abdominal cavity. We are waiting on more tests and surgeries to determine the exact extent of this cancer diagnosis. She has another abdominal surgery with her oncologist scheduled this next week.
Because of Lynny’s struggles, Peter, her husband, is out of paid-time- off from work. Medical bills are piling up from her surgeries, ER visits, and blood transfusions. By the end of this month the total out-of-pocket medical expenses will reach around $21,000.
Peter told me that he is trying to arrange for a payment plan, but I want to do something to relieve their burden. Lynny can’t take care of her children, especially her youngest, Trudy, who is just two years old. I know this family is exhausted. Tiff and I help with the kids when we can, and our family held a fast and prayer this past Sunday that she might be healed.
Lynny and Peter are traveling weekly from St. George to Salt Lake, and this has been such a burden and Peter has been their only source of income.
As part of our goal we are asking for help to cover these out-of-pocket expenses:
• Uterine artery embolization: $4,627
• Hysterectomy: $4,230
• Robotic pelvic surgery: $6,983
• Physical therapy: $750
• Imaging & labs: $1,200
• Specialist follow-ups: $800
• Post-op rehab supplies: $600
• Contingency buffer: $450
• Current lost income: $3,500
• Estimated lost income: $3,500
• Hormone therapy co-pays: $1,250
• Post-op medications: $150
• Basic supplies: $100
Our detailed cost estimate is $28,140, but we've rounded our goal to be $30,000 to allow for unexpected medical expenses that might come up in months ahead.
Every dollar will go directly to Lynny’s medical bills, recovery, and essential family needs.
Let’s help relieve Lynny and her family. Now is not the time for this family to worry about money and have this additional stress in their lives.
We know that our merciful Heavenly Father has answered our prayers. Doctors have changed their schedule, and have been attentive to the details. Lynny and Peter, and all of our family have felt that the hand of God has been with her. The oncologist has given us much reason to hope.
We have seen miracles and many blessings at this dark time. So many positive and little things that make a big difference. Please keep the prayers coming because they are being answered. I understand some people are not able to help financially.
If you are only able to donate just small amount, every dollar counts!
Thank you very much,
Ben Pierce, Lynny’s Brother
