Lynn and John Stephens are facing one of the most difficult chapters of their lives as John enters hospice after a year of battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Lynn, a beloved special education teacher at Powhatan Middle School in Powhatan, Virginia, has always been known for her compassion, dedication, and unwavering support for her students. She had planned to retire at the end of last school year, but those plans changed when John was unexpectedly diagnosed. Since then, Lynn has balanced her full-time teaching job with daily trips to VCU, where John has undergone intensive treatment and, more recently, transitioned into hospice care. Through every challenge, Lynn has remained by John’s side, providing love, care, and strength, even as the family faces overwhelming medical bills, travel expenses, and lost income. Their journey has been marked by loving support, selflessness, positivity, and a strong faith that inspires everyone around them. As friends and colleagues, we have witnessed firsthand the depth of their bond and the courage they show each day. Our hope is to ease the financial burden so Lynn can focus on being with John during this critical time, without the added stress of mounting expenses.
