Hi, I’m Lyndon Longhorne — and I’m on a mission to do something no one has ever done before.
At just 8½ months old, meningitis took both my legs, my right arm, and the fingertips on my left hand. But it never took my determination.
Over the past 12 years, I’ve pushed my body to the limit as a Paralympian, a World Championship finalist, and a 13-time British record holder. Now, I’m taking on my toughest challenge yet.
The Challenge: Ironman DIY – Redefining What’s Possible
On August 31st, 2025, at Liverpool’s Queen’s Docks, I will attempt to become the first quad amputee in history to complete an Ironman DIY — an ultra-endurance event consisting of:
2.4-mile open water swim
112-mile hand-cycle ride
26.2-mile marathon in a racing wheelchair
All back-to-back. All in under 24 hours.
But this isn’t just about completing a race — it’s about proving that adversity doesn’t define us.
Why I’m Doing This
There was a time in my life when I felt completely lost. I battled not only the physical realities of life as a quadruple amputee, but also the darkness of depression, self-doubt, and isolation. I was overweight, mentally drained, and unsure of my future.
But I fought back. And now, I’m dedicating this challenge to everyone who’s ever felt like giving up.
Supporting Two Incredible Charities
This Ironman is more than a personal goal — it’s a chance to raise awareness and vital funds for two life-changing organisations:
Meningitis Now
The charity that supports individuals and families affected by meningitis — just like mine. They work tirelessly to fund research, provide aftercare, and raise awareness to save lives.
Andy’s Man Club
A men’s mental health charity that provides safe, supportive spaces for men to talk and be heard without judgment. Their work is saving lives — including mine.
How You Can Help
Your donations will:
- Help fund the specialist equipment and support I need to complete the Ironman
- Raise money for Meningitis Now and Andy’s Man Club
- Spread a powerful message of resilience, hope, and mental health awareness
No donation is too small. Every pound, every share, and every kind word makes a real difference.
Join the Journey
Training is already underway — and I’m sharing every step, setback, and milestone on my social media. Follow along, get inspired, and become part of the movement.
Better yet — join me in person on August 31st in Liverpool and help make history.
Together, we can prove that with courage, community, and belief — anything is possible.
Thank you for your support ❤️
