Support Lynae Through Her 2nd Cancer Battle
Donation protected
In August of 2013, my friend, Lynae, received her first breast cancer diagnosis. Over the next year, she fought so hard through lymph node removal, chemo and radiation. If you know anyone who has been through this, you know that their lives & health are never the same. For the past 10 years, Lynae had regular checkups to make sure the cancer had not returned. After 5 years, and then 10 years, I honestly felt like my friend had forever won the battle. Then, in June of this year, she was given that horrible news... the cancer was back.
As many of you have experienced, insurance companies have put up many roadblocks to get treatment. After months of fighting with the insurance company, Lynae was able to get her port and start her first of six rounds of chemo in August, one every 3 weeks. Time is of the essence of course, but even more urgent due to her HER2 diagnosis which makes the cancer more aggressive and faster growing. This also means her chemo meds are more intense.
The chemo has been devastating to Lynae's health. She constantly experiences nausea, lack of energy, lymphedema, and neuropathy, among other things. Over the last 5 months, Lynae has only been able to work a few days here and there, and has depleted her paid time off. This has caused finances to become extremely tight.
Lynae's last chemo treatment was on December 9th, and at the end of this year, Lynae will be going in for a full mastectomy. Any post-surgery treatment, including additional chemo, will be decided at a later date.
Lynae's husband, Craig, has had to work as much as possible to maintain their finances, while also trying to support his wife. This has put much stress on them at a time where they need to be fully focused on Lynae's treatment and recovery.
We cannot make cancer go away, but we can help to ease the financial stress. At this time, it is uncertain how long recovery will be and when Lynae will be able to work again.
Your donations will support them financially to allow Craig to take the time off to continue to support Lynae through surgery and additional treatments after. Your donations will help purchase items to assist in her recovery and help pay medical bills. Your donations will help ease a stress that should not be on her shoulders at this time.
For over 20 years, Lynae has been my person who I know will be there for me no matter what, but also the last one to ask for help. She is not only a great friend, she is a daughter, a sister, a mother, a grandma, a wife, and just an all around fierce woman.
Thank you to everyone who has already shown their support, and continues to. Remember, no donation is too small, and every contribution will make a difference.
I will post updates as they come in, but please feel free to reach out with additional ideas on ways we can help! Thank you in advance for all of your support, well wishes and love sent Lynae's way!
