Lyle, Lyle Crocodile has been the best school horse ever and now he needs a little extra help!
Lyle recently retired from working life after 13 years at Rising Hope Equestrian Center. He spent all those years teaching countless students all about horses: to ride, to groom, to improve their horsemanship skills. He was a first love for many and has truly been a forgiving and reliable boy for students and trainers alike.
After his retirement and move to his new home, it was discovered through multiple tests that Lyle has EPM (Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis) EPM info. EPM is a devastating and difficult to control illness that has likely laid undiscovered for quite a while. It has number of symptoms that affect his ability to function and be comfortable.
Unfortunately, treatment for EPM is pretty expensive. The first month of his medicine with vet care is expected to run a minimum of $2,600. Depending on results, he may need multiple months of meds as EPM symptoms commonly (though hopefully not always!) return at some point.
Lyle is currently receiving treatment and living comfortably at Ellie Bricker Horsemanship, but these expenses were sudden and not expected on top of the regular cost of supporting a retired horse, which is already significant.
We are asking everyone who loves Lyle or who learned from him to chip in and help us afford his care. Will you join his retirement family?
Any monies received through this ongoing fundraiser will go completely and directly to pay for Lyle’s needs. We have created a separate bank account just to support Lyle through his illness and retirement and we want to be totally transparent with all of our donors. Unfortunately, EB Horsemanship is NOT a public charity, so any donations you make are considered gifts and will not be tax deductible. That said, we want to make our promises super clear…
Funds you send may be used for:
1) EPM treatment and associated veterinary costs
2) Lyle’s food, long term pain medications or necessary supplements
3) Farrier care
4) Emergency or necessary medical interventions based on veterinarian recommendation
Funds will NOT be used for:
1) Any other horse
2) Any other business expense
3) Helpful but not medically necessary treatments such as massage or chiropractic
*In the unfortunate case that Lyle passes away or needs euthanasia (per vet recommendation), funds will be used to support his loving final care. Although we don’t think it likely, if there are any funds left after paying all of his bills, they will be donated to a reputable 501(c)3 nonprofit horse rescue charity, NOT kept by the fundraisers for any other use.
We hope you will help us support this wonderful boy. He deserves our best effort after all the years of love and care he has given so many.
Please consider donating on a regular basis if you can - even if it’s a small amount - we’ll keep you updated on his progress. Also feel free to contact us with any questions or to arrange a visit to see him! He would LOVE to see you!
Lyle has a Facebook Fan group. Send us your email and we’ll send you an invite!
