She has been diagnosed with Systemic inflammatory response syndrome associated with organ dysfunction, an ANKRD26 gene variant linked to thrombocytopenia, and severe cyclical neutropenia with leukopenia—a serious white blood cell disease. Recently, Lydia was admitted to the ICU for three days due to seizure-like activity and sepsis, then transferred to another hospital for EEG monitoring. She continues to battle frequent, life-threatening infections and complications, and now needs a bone marrow transplant. This process involves four weeks of high-dose chemotherapy before receiving the transplant. Due to these conditions, doctors have considered Lydia disabled until further notice, pending her recovery after the bone marrow transplant.
