My name is LuShay. I am 31 years old and have dedicated my life to caring for others. I work as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Trinity Hospital while attending Rasmussen University to earn my Registered Nurse (RN) degree. After years of hard work, I have just one year left before graduating.

On July 7, my life changed in an instant when I was mauled by two stray

pit bulls. I suffered severe injuries that required four hours of emergency surgery, and I am now facing a long physical and emotional recovery.

Because of my injuries, I have been unable to return to work, leaving me without the income I relied on while medical bills, living expenses, and nursing school costs continue to grow. Recovering while trying to stay on track to finish my degree has been one of the greatest challenges I've ever faced.

Although this attack has changed every part of my life, it has not taken away my determination. My goal is to heal, complete nursing school, and return to doing what I love most: caring for others.
