Hello, this is Lu.
Lu is a very special boy to us. He is our other dog's little nephew. He is a Golden Retriever and White Shepherd mix. He was born on May 30, 2024, and he melted our hearts the moment we met him. He is very friendly, very adventurous, always high-spirited, and loves his human babies. Our dark brown Golden Retriever, Bailey, seen in the picture with my daughter, is five years old, and she is technically Lu’s aunt. Sometimes Lu can be a little bit too adventurous and likes to get into things he’s not supposed to. We are still unsure what caused this, but Lu has a foreign object trapped inside his tummy. I wasn’t aware that he could have swallowed something too big to pass. My initial thought was he ate some grass and it gave him an upset tummy. It got to the point where he was vomiting uncontrollably and would not eat or drink anything. At that point, we decided to take Lu to the vet after many ups and downs in his well-being. One day he would not look okay, the next day he would be his normal self. We took him to the vet in Lowell, IN, on Thursday, and the vet discovered that he had something of a large mass inside his intestines or stomach. Friday, he had an x-ray to clarify his findings, and the vet was right. Lu had swallowed something too big to pass, and emergency surgery was needed.

My name is Allison, and I am a single, full-time working mother of two animal-loving children. My daughter had our Bailey when she was just four years old, and I wanted to do the same with my son and give him a male companion also. We are a small family, but we love big for each other. It is with a heavy heart to say that I quite literally need all the help that I can get in order to give Lu the surgery that he needed. I have opened myself up to donations. I have maxed out all of my credit cards, utilized all of my child support, and half my mortgage payment. I am creating this GoFundMe because I still have people willing to donate to help Lu. Prayers are welcome and are just as effective as any donations made. I am a very strong and independent mother who rarely asks for assistance or donations, but with a heavy heart, I must say this: I don’t believe I can recover financially from this.

I would like to thank everyone for their support, prayers, and helpful research.

UPDATE 5/11/25: Lu has been quite the sleepy boy. We are heading to the vet tomorrow, hopefully for some good news. Having 6in of his intestines removed has its own risks aside from the surgery itself. It’s still unsure if he will make a full recovery. We are hoping tomorrow there is good news. So far no . And we need him to, to make sure everything is moving through him smoothly. Prayers for no more complications
