Lupita has been a dedicated member of our school community since 2009, working tirelessly as our custodian. She is the heart of our halls—always greeting students and staff with a warm smile, no matter what challenges she faces. Despite having one of the most demanding jobs in the school, Lupita never complains. She works a second job, raises her family, and still finds the strength to care for her husband, who has been fighting cancer for four years.

Recently, Lupita’s husband’s health took a turn for the worse. After a period of remission, his cancer returned with a vengeance over a year ago. He has become very frail, was hospitalized two weeks ago, and is now home under hospice care to spend his final days surrounded by loved ones. Lupita is the sole breadwinner and is paid by the day, so she cannot afford to take time off work. She relies on a home video camera to check on her husband while she works, and a nurse visits daily to monitor his status, check on his pain levels, and monitor medications.

We are coming together as a school community to support Lupita during this incredibly difficult time. Funds raised will allow her to take unpaid days off work to be with her husband in his final days. Any additional support will help cover the mounting bills from medications, hospital stays, doctor visits, cancer treatments, MRIs, and more.
