Support Lupita After a Hate-Driven Act of Vandalism
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Lupita Moreno. I am a Mexican immigrant woman who came to this country with the hope of building a better future through hard work and honesty. I work long hours every day to move forward, and I never imagined something like this could happen to me.
On Thursday, May 8th, while I was working a long shift, someone set my car on fire. I have no idea why anyone would do this. I have no enemies, no problems with anyone. I'm just another hardworking person trying to live with dignity. It all happened without any apparent reason.
To many, a car is just a means of transportation, but for me, it was my only tool to work, to move around, to live. I have no way of replacing it on my own, and unfortunately, I don’t have insurance that covers this kind of damage. I also lost personal belongings inside.
This situation has left me devastated—not only because of the material loss, but also because of the feeling of insecurity and helplessness. Sometimes I wonder if this happened because of where I come from, because I’m an immigrant. In times like these, with so many racist attacks driven by hate, that thought hurts even more.
Today, I come to you with humility, asking for help. Any contribution, no matter how small, will bring me a little closer to starting over. Whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this campaign, everything helps. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read my story.
With hope,
Lupita
