In early January 2025, our family received devastating news when my Aunt Lupe—Maria Guadalupe Valadez—was diagnosed with Myelofibrosis, a rare and serious blood cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow.

For nearly 20 years, Lupe devoted herself to working with the Benedict Sisters in Boerne, Texas. As her illness progressed and symptoms became more severe, she was no longer able to continue working. Shortly after, my Uncle Juan had to stop working as well in order to become Lupe’s full-time caregiver.

For almost a year, their family has been facing the physical, emotional, and financial challenges that come with this diagnosis. As of December 22, 2025, Lupe is on day three of her bone marrow transplant journey. She is currently hospitalized and will remain there for over a month, followed by several more months of intensive recovery and ongoing treatment.

We are humbly asking for your prayers, love, and support during this incredibly difficult time. Any donation—no matter the amount—will help relieve the financial strain on Lupe and Juan so they can focus on healing and caregiving.

All funds raised will go toward:
• Medications and medical supplies
• Health insurance co-pays and related medical expenses
• Travel between Boerne and San Antonio for treatments and follow-up care
• Basic living expenses during her recovery period

While the transplant is a critical step forward, Lupe’s journey is far from over. Her recovery and continued treatment are expected to last an additional 3–5 months.

Please keep Lupe and our family in your thoughts and prayers. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser means just as much.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, and support.
