Lupe is one of the thousands of DACA holders who is impacted by the delays in DACA applications. She has been unemployed since April 29,2026 and without access to unemployment. Join us in supporting her well-being throughout this time.
Beloved Community,
Many of us in communities throughout California, and particularly members of the San Diego, Los Angeles, and Central Valley communities, have had the pleasure of meeting Lupe and getting to know the caring, wise, fierce, outspoken leader that she is. Lupe is a beloved sister, daughter, mentor, colleague, friend, and former organizer who needs some financial support from the communities that she has so dedicatedly served for the past 10 years.
We are asking for help covering basic living expenses over the next six months while she waits for her renewed work permit to arrive so she can get back to work. The funds collected will also contribute for future legal fees that she will need. Lupe submitted her application on time and has been processing for nearly 6 months. Right now, she has no timeline for when it might arrive. Lupe was also impacted by the DMV's Real ID recall, her driver's license is tied to her work permit, meaning it too has expired, and she cannot legally drive.
Lupe continues to be grounded in love and care by her immigrant parents and is worried and planning on how to financially support them. She has tapped into her savings for now and hopes to find a more stable income as she waits for her work permit.
If you are unable to give, sharing her story and advocating for the protection of our undocumented community in your city would make a big difference.
Below are some resources shared by Lupe that have helped her.
