Support Luna's MRI and Recovery Journey

Our names are Selin & Carter. Thank you so much for stopping by to read our story. We have been together for the past 16 years, since high school, 15 of those years, we have also had our cat, Luna, with us every step of the way, since she was 7 weeks old- all through our twenties and now into our thirties! She is our whole world, and is the heart of our little family. There aren’t words enough to fully express how much joy and love she has brought to our lives on a daily basis for so many years.
Luna has been a healthy cat for most of her life, until recently. In early July, she suddenly lost mobility in her rear legs, and began dragging herself around our home. Vets initially thought this was due to arthritis, a treatable condition common in senior cats, but the treatment failed, and her condition has not improved. We took her to a neurologist, who informed us that the only way to identify the cause of her sudden decline would be an MRI, which is an extremely costly procedure averaging around $5,000, not including any potential treatment she may need in order to continue living a healthy life. We are devastated, as this is much, much more than we were expecting and are financially able to afford, and have been desperately been trying to figure out a way to save her life while also not creating a massive financial burden on ourselves. This has been an extremely difficult situation for us- trying to decide between saving her, and a mountain of debt. We are choosing to move forward with the MRI so we can get some answers, but we are barely able to manage this, let alone whatever treatment she will need to recover.
We would normally never ask for help with this, but the level of expense for the incoming vet bills is so completely overwhelming for our financial scope, that we must humbly ask for any help to save our sweet baby girl. We owe her more than any monetary sum could possibly cover, and want to give her a chance to continue living if this is due to an injury, or something treatable that she may recover from. Aside from being unable to use her rear legs, she is still behaving like her normal sweet self, still loves food, is still playful, still loves just being with her humans. We don’t feel that it’s her time yet given her normal demeanor still being intact, we feel in our hearts that she still has a lot of will to live.
Anyone who has ever loved a pet understands what a tough situation we find ourselves in. We would be so incredibly grateful for any assistance anyone is willing to provide us during this difficult time. There are times in life where we must reach out and rely on the compassion and generosity of the community for help, and this is one of those times for us. We understand that these are tough financial times for many, so if you can’t donate, we still deeply appreciate your thoughts and prayers. If you’ve made it this far, thank you so much for taking the time to read our story.
With love & hope,
Selin, Carter, and Luna
