Luna, my daughter, has always shown incredible resilience in the face of challenges. After seven months of thriving at college and being inducted into the PTK Honor Society, she faced a setback that has deeply affected her. A few weeks ago, Luna experienced a severe meltdown when she was denied help she had previously received. Her ASD makes it difficult to understand sudden changes, and the way the situation was handled led to increased mental stress and feelings of isolation. Now, she faces the possibility of being withdrawn from all her classes, and she worries that the money spent on her semester was for nothing.

Luna has poured her heart into her ceramic art projects, and it’s important to her to finish them. We promised to find a studio where she can glaze and fire her pieces, but she is adamant that we shouldn’t spend any more money. During her meltdown, there was damage to property, adding to her stress. We had hoped that the university’s programs would continue to help her build the skills she needs, but this experience has shown us that she needs more support. Years of challenges in the education system have left Luna with CPSTD, nightmares, and triggers. She thought she had finally found a safe place, but now she knows she needs help to truly feel safe and accepted.
