Help Luna Fight Against Breast Cancer

Help Luna Beat Breast Cancer!

Only about 9% of spayed female cats have a chance of developing breast cancer and or mammary tumors.

My name is Alana, and I've had Luna since she was a kitten. She's been a constant in my life for over a decade, through many hard times and happy times. Unfortunately, we recently discovered that Luna falls into that very rare 9% of spayed cats.

In March we noticed a small lump. We wanted it checked out soon, but at the same time we discovered our dog Loki had a sarcoma and needed 3 lumps removed. This was March into May with his recovery extending into June. On Saturday, July 12, our beloved dog Sweet Pea passed away in my arms simply because it was her time after 17 years of being a very good girl.

We finally got a vet appointment for Luna following these hardships just to be dealt another blow. Despite having her spayed as a kitten, she has been diagnosed with a mammary tumor the vet believes is malignant (almost 90% are) and while the prognosis seems grim, there is hope.

She was x-rayed to see if the cancer had spread to any other tissue. The vet and radiologist confirmed they saw no evidence of spread to other tissue so it’s a race against time as breast cancer in cats tends to move very aggressively and is usually malignant. Most cats, depending on tumor size and other factors, are given anywhere from a year or 2 to a few months of life post-op. She's been given a year or so since they don’t think it has spread to other parts of her body yet.

The tumor needs to come off one way or another, the procedure would also possibly include the removal of some/all of her mammary glands as well due to the high chance of spread and the aggressive nature of this cancer in cats. The lump itself bothers her and causes her to scratch at it, so she must wear a suit which she’s none to happy about.

We have been quoted at a $3-4k just for surgery. We know she’ll also require pain meds and follow ups. We just don’t have it right now and payment is required upfront.

For the time being, we’ve been given medication to manage any pain she may have or infection that the tumor is causing. But we want more than anything to fight for Luna's quality of life to remain intact for as long as it can given the situation. We want to give her a fighting chance.

Please if you can donate, share, spread on socials; all help is appreciated in trying to save Luna.

Please help this little kitty have a chance to beat the odds and beat cancer!

How funds will be used: All funds will directly go to Luna’s vet bills including surgery, follow ups, blood work, medication, surgical supplies and other necessary healthcare for Luna. Every penny will be for her!

I will as frequently as I can on her condition and progress, for the moment, she's happily napping on a blanket.
