Support Luna's Eye Surgery for a Bright-Eyed Future

Luna bella mozzarella melted cheese is our beloved family cat that my husband and I took in when we moved in together. We believe her to have immortality as she is 17 and hasn't had any health concerns until lately. Luna has developed feline eye herpes within the last year which only flares up every so often, however this virus has taken its toll and has affected the cornea in her left eye, eating away all the layers in one spot down to the final layer. Her eye specialist wants her to have immediate surgery and graft a part of her eye tissue to repair this hole before the next inevitable step which is rupture and loss of the whole eye. Luna has a lot of juice left in her and we want to proceed with the surgery. As one would imagine it's going to cost quite a bit and we are really struggling to come up with the funds. Her EKG alone is $500 and the rest is upwards of $4500. Any amount you can spare would be so incredibly helpful for this sweet kitty to continue to live her life to the fullest!

Luna came to my family in 2009 when she was scared by some fireworks on the Fourth of July and fled her barn. She spent the next 2 weeks on our doorstep and we fed her ham until our parents finally decided to let us keep her (I was around 10/11). At this time we didn't know that she belonged to anyone until we took her to the vet and they found an active chip. My sister and I were distraught thinking the owner would surely take her back, but alas the farm owner said that this cat was a barn cat and sucked at her only job of catching critters. So they let us keep her! We named her Luna because that night was a big bright full moon and we knew now that she was gonna have a big bright and full life now that she had our love. She moved 3 times with me, simply another city over, then to another state where should would officially be my cat, and finally down to Southern California where my husband would be formally adopting her when we got married. She loves cuddling on the couch and greeting everyone at the door. She loves pets and scritches at the base of her tail. Any love is her favorite love!

The funds would cover the EKG, anesthesia, the surgery, medicine during the surgery, follow-up appointments with the specialist, and prescribed medications. Luckily the recovery time is only 3-6 weeks in a cone (she actually loves the pillow ones because she has a built in pillow on the go!). The doctor is very optimistic and the surgery has. 90% success rate and even better odds for a cat! Save Luna's eye!
