Maria Martinez has called the United States home for the past 10 years—since she was just 12 years old. Now 22, Maria is facing deportation and is currently being held in an immigration detention facility in Texas, far from the only home she’s truly known.

Maria came to the U.S. as a child, grew up in our schools, and built a life here. She is kind, hardworking, and deeply rooted in her community. Deportation would not only separate her from the people she loves, but send her to a country she barely remembers, with no support or safety net.

Right now, Maria has legal assistance to help fight her case—but related expenses are costly, and her family simply cannot afford it on their own. We are raising funds to cover miscellaneous expenses related to immigration proceedings needed to give Maria a fighting chance to stay in the only country she calls home.

María llegó a Estados Unidos de niña, creció en nuestras escuelas y construyó una vida aquí. Es amable, trabajadora y está profundamente arraigada en su comunidad. La deportación no solo la separaría de sus seres queridos, sino que la enviaría a un país que apenas recuerda, sin apoyo ni red de seguridad.

Actualmente, María cuenta con asistencia legal para defender su caso, pero los gastos relacionados son elevados y su familia simplemente no puede afrontarlos por sí sola. Estamos recaudando fondos para cubrir los gastos varios relacionados con los procedimientos migratorios necesarios para que María tenga la oportunidad de permanecer en el único país que considera su hogar.
