Dear Friends,
If you are receiving this, you know Luke, Christa or Luci Carson. We have all heard the term “it takes a village” and now is the time that these three need our village and community of friends to support them.
Luke and Christa shared the news with us that he was suddenly and recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Stage 2B. While this disease is treatable, it is serious and the treatment is lengthy. As we all know, Luke is an incredibly talented and dedicated basketball player having shown amazing skills and dedication throughout his middle and high school years. His motivation and commitment toward sport have translated into his desire to beat Hodgkin’s. Even though he and his mom, Christa, have a positive outlook towards the future they still need our help.
Luke began the school year as a “Post Grad” at a boarding school in Vermont with the prospect of attaining a basketball scholarship for college the following fall. These dreams have been postponed by his diagnosis and as you can imagine the heartbreak of being 18 and going through various medical procedures and chemotherapy are overwhelming. We are sure that the parents reading this never want to go through what Christa has to deal with now.
Luckily, he was diagnosed early and is in very good hands receiving care at NYU Langone Cancer Center. Even though he has skilled medical care and the love and support of his family, he still needs our help. As you know, medical health insurance covers some costs but not all. There are co-pays and out of pocket expenses to cover. Christa will need to take time off from her newly acquired job and is considering moving closer to the hospital so that it will be more convenient for Luke and her to visit doctors throughout his lengthy treatment.
We are asking for your help to support Luke and his family while he goes through treatment and recovery. Any donation you can make, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated as they go through this difficult time in helping Luke regain his health.
As you have experienced in your relationships with Luke, Christa and Luci they are giving with their friendship and love – let’s give that back to them now in their time of need.
