Hello friends and family,
My name is Makeila, I’m 23 years old and I am the daughter of Luke.
In October of this year I took my father into urgent care due to increased back and abdomen pain, and they discovered a 9cm mass on his prostate. Since then, he has had MRIs, CT scans, GI procedures, biopsy, and what they found was completely unexpected and hearing it was difficult and still confusing for us. The doctors diagnosed him with a spindle cell neoplasm which is a rare form of cancer, and it is growing.
The pain of the tumor has left him unable to work and he will be getting it removed by open surgery on December 15th, 2025.
I am currently in nursing school, which leaves most of the financial costs on my mother.
It is difficult to be learning how to take care of others, while needing to take care of your own family too.
I have taken over the financial responsibilities my dad had for the time being.
Im doing my best to be there for my dad while still finding time to work and pass my classes so these costs don’t all fall on my mom.
With this being a very invasive surgery, I am trying to prepare myself for any further complications that may happen.
All donations and prayers are appreciated. Please keep my dad in your thoughts and send him your strength and love for his recovery.
Thank you <3
With love,
Makeila P
More about Luke:
My dad is 57 years old and a Navy Veteran. Since coming out of the military, he has worked multiple jobs as I was growing up, but has been working at Disneyland in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge for the past 5 years. Standing at work for long hours has become a difficult task for him now due to the growth of this tumor. Even through the scary news, he has been positive and has been taking his lifestyle modifications and medical advice from our doctors seriously, while being looked over by my mom and I. He has always been supportive to those around him and it would mean so much to watch him get support back during this difficult time.
Thank you all again for taking the time to read.
