Support Luke’s ATV Injury Recovery

Donation protected
We are the family of Luke Caldwell, and we are raising funds for our husband, father, son, brother, Luke.
On September 9th 2023, while riding an ATV, he had an accident and fractured his C6 and C7 vertebrae, severely injuring his spinal cord and was immediately paralyzed from the point of the fracture down. Luke was life flighted to Truman Hospital in Kansas City where the doctors in two successful surgeries were able to stabilize the fractured vertebrae so that Luke might have a chance to walk again. He is currently confined to his hospital bed but beginning the long road to recovery. It seems each hour brings new challenges, some positive, some not. It will be a long road until the extent of his recovery can be fully assessed and during the entire recovery process extensive physical rehabilitation is necessary. It is likely in the next week, he will be transferred to a rehabilitation facility to begin the rehabilitation process so that he might have a chance to walk again.
Luke is the main provider for his wife Dennelle and two children, Corbyn and Bently. His tragic accident has drastically impacted the entire family. In addition to caring for their children, Dennelle will be Luke’s full-time caregiver. Dennelle will receive assistance from her extended family as well as Luke’s extended family to care for Luke and the children. However, the financial hardship will be immense. Plans are already being made to modify the family home so that Luke may access it in a wheelchair. To save costs, his father and father-in-law, along with extended family and friends will build a ramp, widen doorways and make the bathroom handicap accessible. In addition, Dennelle and his two children will be facing high expenses for his immediate medical and long-term care needs, including a wheelchair-accessible vehicle so that he can make it to rehabilitation and the numerous doctor’s visits he will be facing in the future.  Meanwhile, Luke’s family will need help with household and everyday living expenses in addition to his medical care and rehabilitation expenses. Luke is dealing with pain, paralysis, and multiple complications. Nevertheless, despite great pain and the long rehabilitation journey ahead of him, he is optimistic as he works hard to get his life back and pursue a good future for himself and his family. Although he has trouble moving at all, he does his best to hug all of his family which visit him constantly. His positive attitude is inspiring. Luke and all his family are very grateful for any support you can give them. We ask that all donations go through the Gofundme platform.
