Support Luka's Battle Against Neuroblastoma

Story

This is Luka. Luka was a perfectly healthy baby boy up until the day he turned 8 months old. This long journey started when he aspirated on a little pool water while on vacation. His mother, who is an ICU nurse, noticed his breathing was a little fast a few days after and took him to his pediatrician thinking he may have developed pneumonia. No one could have prepared them for what came next. He was life-flighted to Dallas Children’s Hospital on June 3rd and diagnosed with Stage L2 intermediate neuroblastoma. A large tumor was found pressing on his left lung, which caused it to fill with fluid and fully collapse. On June 4th, Luka underwent surgery to have a chest tube placed to drain the fluid and remained in the ICU for 5 days requiring high-flow oxygen. The same day, he underwent his first round of chemotherapy. Currently, Luka has moved out of intensive care and is on the oncology floor. His chest tube still remains in place and is still draining. His next round of chemotherapy will take place on June 25th, and the oncologists are hoping that after the second round, the fluid draining from his lung will subside. His parents, Cassie and Carlos, have remained by his side since he was admitted. Since his mother, Cassie, is an ICU nurse, she will be unable to work the duration of his treatment for fears of bringing illness home to her immunocompromised child. Please pray for this sweet family as they are going through one of the hardest trials of their lives.
