Support Luis F. Gomez Jr.'s Recovery and Family

Donation protected
On Monday, June 3rd, our beloved brother-in law and good friend, Luis F. Gomez, Jr., suffered from a massive stroke that has left him in a hospital bed to this date. Luis went into work that Monday morning and worked a normal day. His co-workers said that nothing was out of the ordinary and that Luis was in good spirits. On his way home from work, Luis made a stop to drop some papers off to his associate. When dropping them off to her, Luis suddenly fell ill, asking for some water and eventually collapsing to the floor. Thanks to the smart thinking and quick actions of his co-worker, she immediately noticed that something was wrong and called 911.  An ambulance took Luis to the Emergency Room where the treatment for his stroke began. Luis was hospitalized for  six weeks at Holy Cross Hospital.   Luis was recently transferred to a rehabilitation facility where he continues to make remarkable improvements, but the timeline for his recovery is unknown at this time.

Luis began practicing law in 1996, working as a State's Attorney for both Prince George's and Montgomery Counties. Most recently,  Luis is a business owner and an extremely experienced and respectable attorney; always full of energy and drive, As the owner and primary practicing defense attorney for a small law firm outside of DC, his earnings have always been the primary source of income used to support his family.  As you can imagine, since Luis’ stroke occurred, his ability to work and generate revenue has come to a complete stand-still. His wife, Rosemary, is an Art teacher at a small,  private elementary school. She is a wonderful teacher; however her work salary has been stretched to the limit and will not be enough solely to support the family. Luis and Rosemary’s two children, Julianna (21) and Anthony (19), are both full-time students at Towson University, where they are working hard to get a good education and to eventually receive their degrees.

We have started this GoFundMe to help with medical bills, living expenses, college tuition expenses for their two children, and any costs associated with his rehabilitation care. Funds will be managed by Luis’ wife, Rosemary.   If you are unable to donate, prayers and good wishes are just as welcome and needed!

The Gomez Family is beyond grateful for the love, prayers, and support that they have already received.  From the hospital visits of friends and loved ones, to the countless messages, cards and meals sent their way, each act of kindness helps to encourage and support Luis and his family. We will continue to keep you posted on Luis’ progress through notifications on this page.  Please check back often and share with your friends and family on social media and via email. Hopefully the more people know and care for Luis’ situation, the more positive energies and prayers will come his way, leading him to a full or near-full recovery.
