Hello to those of you who are taking time out of your day to read my GoFundMe plea.

I wish I didn’t have to write this, but the last two years have been quite life-changing. I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and severe osteoarthritis. Eight surgeries later, I am not able to work anymore; thus, I must ask for monetary help to be able to get my beautiful dachshund, Lucy, the help she needs.

Lucy is eleven years old and the matriarch of my rescue pet menagerie. She is full of life and the sweetest dog you will ever meet (especially if you just happen to have a hamburger in your pocket)

I call her Lucy the tank because she recovers unbelievably quickly from any illness or mishap.

Along with Lucy’s veterinarian, all non-surgical methods have been tried to help Lucy recover from her back pain and loss of use of her back legs.

At this point, the only cure left is back surgery. She spent the morning with a veterinary neurologist and was checked to see if she is healthy enough for surgery. She is. An MRI is required before surgery. The spinal surgery involves fixing a slipped disc and cleaning up any sharp points she has developed on her vertebrae.

Time is of the essence because if she is not kept still 24/7, she will cause more damage and surgery will not be an option anymore.

The cost of the MRI and surgery is around $14,000.

Yes, that is what the neurologist quoted me.
