Life update: I’m going to Thailand!
Well, that’s the short version of the story. The longer version is that I was called to missions during my senior year of college, during chapel one day. I had no idea when I would go or where for that matter, all I knew was that I was called.
Flash forward to post-graduation. I proceeded to apply for several youth pastor positions but received no offers. After a year of this, I was exhausted and really started to question my call to ministry in general. I decided to focus on getting my ministerial credentials and prayed that God would give me direction on what He wanted me to do.
Flash forward to last October, my home church (Heritage Church) hosted a mission's event with the organization called “Change the Map.” This organization is a prayer initiative focused on praying for the Buddhist world. As I sat through this event, I began to feel the Lord tugging on my heart to GO and become a missionary to the Buddhist world. I prayed about it and decided to email one of the missionaries. He advised me not only to continue praying, but he advised me to sign up for a missions' conference that I went to about 2 weeks ago. After a few more months I felt more confident in what God was speaking to me and decided to start planning a vision/mission's trip to Thailand this fall.
This October, I will be spending 4 weeks with missionaries based out of Bangkok. In these 4 weeks, I will be assisting their team and figuring out what type of ministry I want to do when I go over as a Missionary Associate (M.A) for a 1–2-year term. In the next few months, I will also begin the application process to become an M.A., which can take up to 3-6 months. This trip is a great first step into missions and I would appreciate anything you can give towards this dream.
God bless,
Lucy
