Support Lucy's Long Road to Recovery

Hello,

This is my beautiful husky, Lucy.

On Friday, May 2nd, my two dogs, Lucy and my shepherd, TJ, got loose from my house early in the afternoon. My family and I immediately went searching for them, but we knew that these two have a strong bond and they NEVER go anywhere without the other. We posted on social media in different groups about our missing dogs and received a lot of community help on their sightings. However, on Saturday afternoon, my TJ found his way back home while we were continuing our search, but Lucy was not with him. This has never happened before. My family and I continued to look for Lucy until dark as there were heavy storms happening that day. We couldn't find Lucy for 4 days, and there were no updates on her on any social media site, shelter site, etc. It was not until Monday, May 12, early morning that there was an update about Lucy on some family's back porch. We were able to retrieve her, but she was so tired and dehydrated.

We took her back to our house and began thoroughly checking and washing her for any ticks. She not only had ticks but her entire body was covered with maggots. We immediately took her to the emergency vets, where she stayed overnight for three days. Throughout those three days, she had to be shaved throughout her entire body because of the maggots and ticks. They were inside her body, so she had to be flushed out, given IV fluids for her dehydration, and it was discovered that she had this HUGE bruise on her body because a car hit her and didn't even care to stop for her. This is also our hypothesis on why my two dogs got separated as my shepherd probably ran off frightened. The vet stated that any longer outside and Lucy would not have made it, and they were not sure if she was even going to make it under their care. But she is such a strong soldier and was able to come home after 3 days with a lot of medication that we have to give her daily. The vet has also stated that if the wound does not heal right, she might have to receive a skin graft, which will be VERY expensive. The recovery process is going to be very long, and there is no guarantee how it will go, but my family and I will be with her the entire way.

I am asking for your help donating to me to help my family and I cover the accumulating costs of Lucy's vet visits, her medications, her saline and cream products, her bandages, and the possibility of having to give her a skin graft. Your donations would mean so much to my family and I as we take care of our soldier and survivor. I can't imagine not having her in my life, and I cannot stand to see her in pain. She has made some progress, but it will take a very long time to get her back to her original self.

Any amount or sharing you can bring is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
