Hello! My name is Lucy and I’m a 24 year old non-binary person. I’m making this page in hopes to gain some support for my gender-affirming top surgery, scheduled for November 17, 2025.

Recently, the state of North Carolina ruled that state insurance will no longer cover gender-affirming care of any kind for transgender individuals, effective immediatley. Originally approved to cover my surgery through my insurance, my claim has been voided, and I now have to come up with upwards of 20k to cover the procedure, with $7500 paid upfront to my surgeon on November 10th in order to proceed.


Any bit helps — whatever level of financial contribution or sharing of this page you can do will be greatly appreciated. Because the surgery is so soon, all the preparation for it and my recovery has been in the works for a while — so ideally we could still move forward with this date, pending my financial ability to do so.

This is heartbreaking — not just for me, but for all North Carolinian transgender individuals. But, through the power of community and crowdfunding, I’m hoping I could continue with my procedure as planned. Thank you all.
