I'm Pat Lindsey, 74 years old, and I live in Oviedo, FL with my handicapped, diabetic husband. My baby sister, Lucy Franklin, 9 years younger, who lives in Bossier City LA, fell recently and fractured her left hip. While in the hospital, multiple tumors were found in her hips and along her spine. She was diagnosed with metastatic stage 4 bone cancer.
She has completed several rounds of radiation and is taking two types of oral chemo. Doctors now need to start bone graft infusions, however, she must first have some much needed dental work done (appr. $10,000) as the infusion could be life threatening with bad teeth.
Lucy's situation breaks my heart. Her husband is 12 years older than her and has had his own medical problems in recent months with 15 mm kidney stones and for unknown reasons lost 60 pounds and became anemic. Even with several iron infusions, he is still anemic and weak, having fallen a few times himself without injury, thank God. They have few resources, living on social security, and even still have a house payment. Both of them only have Medicare, with no supplemental medical. (UPDATE 4/25/2025 Jim passed away, Lucy has to hire caretakers for herself till I can get her moved to Florida, so I can be her caretaker.)
They need help! Lucy can't cook or do housework. She uses a walker to do the little bit of getting around she must do. They are relying on DoorDash, grocery and pharmacy deliveries. They need help with medical bills and prescriptions as well as daily meals. Any amount would be so appreciated as it could pay for a meal or a co-pay on a prescription, or be put toward major medical. And, if you can't help them out financially, please, please keep them in your daily prayers. We are Christians and never underestimate the power of prayer, may God's will be done.
