Support Lucky's Fight Against FIP

Hans Luckado Holbein aka "Lucky" is the newest addition to our family. Less than a year ago, he found us in a local donut shop parking lot and chose us to be his daddies. Lucky turned one year old just a few weeks ago. He's usually a rambunctious little rascal who loves to play fetch, bug his older tabby brothers (Rocky and Timber), and get into every single cardboard box he can find in the house.

A little over a week ago, we noticed Lucky becoming a bit less active and starting to eat less. At first, we just thought he was being really good at self-regulating food and perhaps settling out of kitten mode a little. As the week progressed, Lucky became more lethargic and ate far less. We took him to an urgent vet as it was the holiday, and got some troubling initial results from his bloodwork showing he was a bit anemic and had high protein levels. He was sent home with a few doses of appetite stimulant to hopefully get him to eat more, and we scheduled a follow-up with our usual vet.

Today was his follow-up appointment and we were informed that Lucky has Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), a fatal viral disease if left untreated and for which, until just the last few years, there has been no cure. Fortunately, an 84-day treatment is now available that has a 92% success rate in clearing the virus permanently, with a low rate of relapse!

This treatment, however, is quite expensive, which is why Lucky needs your help! We're asking for you to please donate whatever you can to help save Lucky and get him the treatment he desperately needs to get him back to his usual playful self. Lucky, his brothers, and his daddies would be so grateful for anything you can do.

Thank you for taking the time to listen, and for your support for Lucky, whatever form that may take!

All funds we receive via this fundraiser will go towards paying for the antiviral medication, steroid and appetite stimulant medications, and any other related medication and veterinary costs to support Lucky's fight against FIP. As an example, today's visit to the vet cost $314.79, and the urgent vet visit on Sunday cost $946.54. You can find out more information about the FIP treatment medication and its costs here. We don't yet have exact amounts from the vet for the treatment yet, but they have estimated that a 30-day supply of the medication will be $300-400, and the minimum treatment duration is 84 days.
