My name is Carly, and I’m raising funds for a very special young girl, Lucie.

Just weeks ago, Lucie was living a full and busy teenage life, doing well at school, sports and being an amazing big sister to her siblings. She had just started flying lessons, working towards her dream of becoming a pilot.

Then everything changed.

Lucie is an incredible high school student, kind, bright, and full of life. She’s always been the type of child who goes above and beyond, whether that’s working hard at school, helping others, or being a right hand to her mum, who she shares a very close bond with. She’s also a wonderful big sister to her three siblings, who absolutely adore her.

Very suddenly, Lucie was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), a condition that affects how the brain and body communicate. In her case, it has taken away her ability to walk properly, caused falls, and left her unable to manage day-to-day life on her own.

She has already spent weeks in hospital, and her world has been turned upside down. Right now, she can’t attend school or live the normal life any teenager should have. She is also now experiencing tics, which are becoming increasingly distressing and need specialist support to help bring them under control as early as possible.

This has been devastating for both Lucie and her family.

The positive is that with the right treatment, such as specialist therapy like CBT, there is real hope. Early intervention is crucial with FND, helping to retrain the brain and prevent unhelpful pathways from becoming more established. The sooner she can access the right support, the better her chances of recovery.

Lucie urgently needs access to specialist physiotherapy and rehabilitation to help her regain movement and independence, alongside therapy to support her neurological symptoms. As she is currently unable to attend school during this critical Year 10 period, she will also need tutoring to help her keep up with her education and stay on track for her future.

At the same time, her mum is having to care for her, which is having a significant impact on her ability to work and causing a loss of income during an already incredibly difficult time.

Unfortunately, accessing this kind of urgent and specialist support quickly can be difficult and costly.

That’s why we are asking for help.

Any money raised will go towards getting Lucie the treatment she urgently needs, including physiotherapy, specialist therapy, support for her tics, and educational tutoring, as well as helping to ease the financial pressure on her family. This will give her the best possible chance to recover, regain her independence, and get back to being the happy, active young girl she was just weeks ago, and help her get back on track towards her dream of becoming a pilot.
