Support Lucia’s Fight Against Duodenal Cancer

    Our mother Lucia, has recently been blindsided by a diagnosis of duodenal cancer. To remove the tumors and give her the best chance at a full recovery, she underwent a Whipple procedure; a complex and major surgery that requires an intensive hospital stay and a long road to recovery.

     Lucia is a fighter, but this is a mountain no one should have to climb alone. The Whipple procedure is a life-saving but grueling surgery. Because of the nature of the operation and the recovery period ahead, Lucia will be unable to work for several weeks/months as her body heals. Her husband will be taking essential time off work to be her primary caregiver, managing her medications, appointments, and daily needs.

Between the mounting medical bills and the loss of two household incomes, the financial stress is the last thing we want them to worry about right now.

Apoyo para la lucha de Lucia contra el cáncer duodenal

Nuestra madre, Lucia, ha sido sorprendida recientemente con un diagnóstico de cáncer duodenal. Para extirpar los tumores y darle la mejor oportunidad de una recuperación completa, se sometió a un procedimiento de Whipple, una cirugía compleja y mayor que requiere una hospitalización intensiva y un largo proceso de recuperación.

Lucia es una luchadora, pero esta es una montaña que nadie debería tener que escalar solo. El procedimiento de Whipple es una cirugía que salva vidas, pero también es muy exigente. Debido a la naturaleza de la operación y al período de recuperación que tiene por delante, Lucia no podrá trabajar durante varias semanas/meses mientras su cuerpo sana. Su esposo estará tomando tiempo esencial fuera del trabajo para ser su cuidador principal, ayudándola con sus medicamentos, citas médicas y necesidades diarias.

Entre el aumento de los gastos médicos y la pérdida de dos ingresos en el hogar, el estrés financiero es lo último que queremos que tengan que enfrentar en este momento.
