My name is Lucia. I am a 36 year old mother of 5 children. On September 10th, I went to the ER for abdominal pain to find out I had appendicitis. Shortly before going to the operating room, multiple doctors came to my bedside. The surgeon explained he couldn’t go through where they normally do because of a large hernia, so he explained how’d they do it. Then, the surgeon told me there was a Leukemia doctor present because I have Leukemia. Since then, my world has been turned upside down.
I have been diagnosed with BCell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. I was in the hospital for 29 days & went through intensive chemotherapy. My initial testing , lumbar puncture and bone marrow biopsy, indicated that over 90% of my blood has been infected with cancerous cells. I am awaiting results from my recent testing to see how my body has responded to the chemotherapy. As of today, 10/27/2025, it appears my results aren’t great. I am not in deep remission. As they hoped I would be after induction, which means I will most likely need a stem cell transplant. it’s scary
I am creating this GofundMe as I am no longer able to work and the bills will be mounting. I am fortunate enough to have some support from my family but the bills will keep coming & I’m worried how I will be able to handle it. I have been told that providing things go as planned, I will be going through treatment for 2 years.
I appreciate anyone that is willing to help during this time. It doesn’t feel comfortable to be asking for help and if you’re unable to contribute monetarily, please send positive vibes my way or share the link or both! There will be a lot uncertainty during this time and I’m trying my best to be optimistic.
