Support Luciana and João fight and KO Breast Cancer!

Friends, family, and compassionate people,

My name is Samantha Agens and I train out of Fighteria Academy in Wimberley, TX. Throughout all the gyms I've been to in my life, this is by far the best facility with the most beautiful community of people I've ever met. We are family, and family takes care of each other no matter the circumstances. I have started this GoFundMe to provide relief and even the slightest bit of comfort that I can for two individuals that mean the absolute world to all of us here at Fighteria. Luciana has been battling Breast Cancer treatments, surgeries and countless doctor's visits for the past few months which is physically and financially taxing. This campaign has been created to alleviate the financial burden of medical expenses and provide her with a chance to regain her health and reclaim her life. Your generosity and compassion even in the slightest can mean the world to Luciana and João, also their loved ones who desire nothing more than to see her recover fully.

João & Luciana have been through a rollercoaster ride of a life already, growing up in Brazil and making their way to new opportunities in the states within the past couple years. I met João when his wife was still in Brazil, and I quickly realized one could be completely blind and still see the love pouring from their relationship despite being thousands of miles away from each other. I can't begin to express the impact they have had on those around them as well as myself personally. The word "family" is not something I hold lightly in my heart but something that was very easy to consider them as.

Just before their long distance separation came to an end, Luciana found out she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Getting treatment alone in Brazil would have been financially impossible and beyond mentally demanding. Her next step was finding a way to come to the US for the best chance at recovering. A total mastecomy was performed, reconstruction surgery is underway, and it is still unclear whether chemotherapy will be necessary or not.

Imagine the pain, the uncertainty, the feeling of not being able to do anything besides wait and have hope. Hope is all we have most times, especially in unfortunate situations that are out of our control. Luciana is a fighter, she will always be a fighter. Just because she can fight through it doesn't mean the weight isn't heavy. She has poured love and support into all of us; it's our turn to support her.
